Ground Breaking Blue Technology of Mercedes-Benz

These day cars not only serve as a medium of transport, but also luxury and a status symbol. These add up of more luxuries including air-conditioning has made some unnecessary impacts to this greener environment. Nowadays every automotive company is striving hard improving their automotive technologies to overcome the impact on environment and produce greener vehicles and save depleting fuel resources. Leading car and commercial vehicle manufacturer, Benz has come with a new innovative technology to save the planet called ‘Blue Efficiency’. The buzz word ‘blue’ efficiency derives its name from ‘blue planet’ a word used to express the earth when viewed from the space. Blue also signifies water a vital component of life. A vehicle that is to be zero emission must only produce water vapor as its emission.

Blue efficiency vehicles have a collection of innovations including light weight materials, aerodynamics to reduce strain or drag by air, intelligent energy management system to compress the fuel to the maximum while burning, energy efficient power steering. This every prospective measure taken aids to reduce fuel consumption along with reducing CO2 emission to nearly 23% and helps in saving this greener world, not to mention it also helps saving more bucks with the vehicle owners. Blue efficiency vehicles produced by Benz are sleek and aerodynamic in nature. They are marvelously designed and engineered to give elegance and offer superior performance. These greener vehicles are great companion of environment and help to protect planet from further destruction.

Aerodynamic efficiency helps to save more fuel. Maximizing the energy includes regulation of power steering, braking energy and enhanced transmission of the rear axle. Each and every measure including recovery of excess energy helps to save the total energy consumed. All this effect has a positive effect on the overall fuel consumption of the vehicle. Less power consumption occurs with less wind resistance which in turn lowers the fuel consumption. Various measures such as lowering the body level of the vehicle, using special wheel tire combinations like alloy wheels and wind spoilers decreases the fuel consumption and reduce the emission of CO2. New generation cars and commercial vehicles of Mercedes-Benz are fitted with low rolling-resistance tires. These tires are made up of advanced rubber, which decreases the rolling resistance when compared to that of normal tires; this in turn increases the fuel efficiency. Blue efficiency model vehicles offered by Benz are light in weight e.g. bodies are built with light weight materials (45kgs reduced to 30kgs), light weight wind screens (3kg to 1.5kg) and forged light weight alloy wheels (15kg to 7kg) causes a drastic change in the handling and improved fuel efficiency vehicles. Mercedes-Benz these days strive hard to sustain a greener and eco friendly environment using their blue efficiency technologies.

An unforgettable tryst with Natural world

Even with the swiftly proliferating weeds surrounding her, she cuts an imposing figure, green and charming, the picture of fecundity. Locked into her smile are perhaps the mysteries of the universe itself. The place presents an idyllic look, more so when viewed from the ropeway that cuts across the dam and the garden. After driving eight miles from Palakkad a town in Kerala lies this cozy and beautiful dam and garden of Malampuzha. By the time we reached there it was almost dusk, sun started rolling down the water and I was awe-struck by the famed cable car gliding at top across the dam. As it became dark, lights in the garden started to twinkle and people of all walks of life, young and old started to mill.

As we were exhausted of the journey, we re-energized ourselves with a hearty dinner including fat fishes of dam roasted with pepper and salt. Then we started to stroll around the town. The bazaar of Malampuzha was swarming with roadside vendors who where selling stuffs ranging from eatables to toys. We loaded ourselves with some goodies including mouth watering sweets that offered the tang of Kerala to the taste buds. As we moved around the roadside shops, the cool breeze started to enfold our bodies bringing slumber. We soon reached the Garden House situated nearby, run by Kerala Tourism department. We were greeted and were offered hot steaming tea by the waiter who then led us to our luxurious room. As I was heavy-eyed, I wrapped inside the blanket and started to snore away to glory.

My sleep was disturbed with the warmth of sun’s golden rays entering the room and striking my eyes; I stretched forth my hand and sprung out of my bed. I gazed at the mirror on the door; with oiled and uncombed hair I was looking terrible. As it dawned, zillions of nature including the flora and fauna started to greet the sun, with birds chirping around and trees dancing along with breeze. As I peeped out through my window, I was presented with rich natural beauty of lush greenery and the Western Ghats standing as a safeguard to the dam.

As time passed, everyone woke up from the bed and started doing our regular morning chores. Shortly after dressing up casually, we decided to explore the place. The cable car or ropeway was the first thing in our mind; we planned to take a ride in the dream cable car. The ropeway was powered by giant turbines and had seats for two people accommodate. I and my cousin were packed into the cable car which had a see-through top; we sat gingerly in our seats. It started to move ahead in a slow and uniform motion, and before we looked down, we were airborne. Far from here in the cable car, we could have an uninterrupted view of the majestic Western Ghats and the Malampuzha dam. We were enjoying the spectacular look 70 feet above the ground, before long we reached the dam and held our breath until we safely crossed the waters. Back the ropeway returned the same way and now we were relaxed and enjoyed the ride.

We then headed towards the boat jetty and waited for some time until then we saw a boat piercing the dam waters packed with passengers. They are a concoction of Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan, most of them turned out to be youngsters including the school and college students. Soon, we set out our journey on the boat, a double decker with another cart load of tourists. As the boat went deeper into the dam waters we had a clear glance of the Western Ghats along with dancing clouds. Pile of trees stood around the Ghats imitating the green nature. Trees and small islands of shrubs covered the dam in some places. We had a clear image of sluice gates of the dam at a distance, before we enjoyed we were back again to the quay side. The blossomed garden reflected the greenery of ‘God’s own country’. The getaway brought an unforgettable memoir to our mind.
